Changer/Dresser & CLOTHES

Baby's changing table/dresser is being delivered today (see photo below) so this weekend, in preparation for the arrival, Luke and I spent a day removing tags from all of the clothes that we have thus far (**NOTE** I think we have plenty of 6 month onesies - so when baby shower time comes around ... we don't need any more of this size, thanks) reading washing instructions (I already have a love/hate relationship with this super cute white sweater that we have that apparently has to be hung up to dry - my least favorite thing about laundry) and doing 3.75 loads of baby laundry (most of the clothes have to be dried on "delicate" so I am counting 0.25 extra loads for each extra drying cycle) Then we folded them, and organized them by size - so excited to get the dresser put together and put the clothes away!
We also spent some time researching baby names and their meanings - and have compiled a work-in-progress list to take with us to the hospital. And, to all of you who have been asking about what we have named her - we aren't going to name her until we actually SEE her, but we will have our list narrowed down by then - and we will post as the list gets shorter.

19 Weeks (we skipped week 18 on the blog)

I just got the email "your pregnancy: 19 weeks" so I figured it was time to give you a NEW FRUIT.

Heirloom Tomato - that's the size comparison this week... which seems a little absurd to me, because I think the turnip looked bigger.. but apparently not.

I also included the "non-fruit" version... mostly because it looks like it's really start to suck in there.. and I had to giggle at the fact that she still has like 5 months in that tiny little cramped space - glad you only have to go through that once in your life...

Ultrasound pictures

Here are the digital files of our ultrasound pictures. I'm sure this won't be anything to special to most of you, because I never thought ultrasound pictures were before.. usually I couldn't tell what I was looking at, and even when I could... all the babies looked the same. But I do have to admit that it was different being in there and watching it live. (plus.. if you look at her nose.. it doesn't look like she got my nose.. which is a really good thing)
I didn't include all of the REALLY interesting ones like "cross section of the heart" "long angle of the spine" "left ventricle something something" (I didn't know what he was talking about for MOST of the appointment)

So here she is:

This one looks like she's praying.

and here she is shaking her fist at the personality-less ultrasound technician that kept messing with her trying to get her to turn over.

Just a little hand waving goodbye.

oh and also...

I forgot to say that she's completely healthy.. heart looks good, no problems there.. the spine is coming together (no spina-bifida.. or how ever you spell that) brain looks good.. hmm.. what else? I was more concerned with if she was cute and trying to figure out whether she was a she or a he..
but I WAS glad to hear that she was healthy :-)

ULTRASOUND NEWS

We had our ultrasound this morning at 7:00am (ultrasound people start their workday early apparently)
We went through the whole ultrasound (which took longer than normal because our baby is obstinate and wouldn't turn over so he could check the heart thoroughly.

We gave the technician a blank card and envelope and asked that he not tell us the sex during the appointment but rather write the news on the card and seal it up.

Then we went and got coffee and opened our present!! (it was a lot like Christmas morning)

here is what we saw:
and here are some scanned (so not good quality) ultrasound photos of the little girl spud. We are getting a copy of the CD so we will have better quality digital photos later.. and our ultrasound technician was a really weird guy.. and he wrote "hi mom and dad" on ALL of our copies.. so.. there's that..

I need your help ---

First - our crib came on Tuesday, and my lovely husband got it all put together (it was best I wasn't in town to "help" with this process) Our "guest room" is officially no longer a guest room. It is a nursery with one piece of furniture (and a blackjack table, poker chips, card shuffler and a Rubbermaid full of office supplies that still need to find a new home) but regardless - it's starting to feel more like a nursery.
Here is a picture of the crib that we chose:
(It converts into a daybed, toddler bed, and eventually a full-sized headboard and footboard.

Now here is where I need help - I found some crib bedding that I really like, and THEN I made the mistake of showing it to my mom... who doesn't like it - and she created reasonable doubt in my mind.. so I need your opinion. Is this crib bedding a winner.... or not?
(now, I realize that it looks like there is a LOT going on, but I think that's mostly because they have the bedding and ALL of the accessories right next to each other... so try to picture this stuff spread out throughout a reasonably sized room - and with a white crib of course)

and here is a closeup of the print itself (not the striped part - just the circles):

a little over 17 weeks - and baby's first trip to Vegas!

Well, we are 3.5 days away from the much-anticipated ultrasound - I went to Carters today and bought a bunch of only-girl clothes and only-boy clothes (as opposed to the unisex outfits I have already) I had a good coupon. And we will simply be returning the stack of clothes that we WON'T be using after Tuesdays announcement. Unfortunately, I got home and started putting the clothes away only to find that my mom and I picked out approximately 5 TIMES the boys clothes as girls - I'm wondering if that is a sign??

I took a (very) last minute trip to Las Vegas last Sunday to watch the OSU girls golf team play in a tournament (my sister is the assistant coach, in case you weren't aware of that) I lost $80 - which is sad, because the last 4 trips to Vegas I have come out ahead - but it was still a very good time. Whenever someone smoked near my I simply got up and waited until they were finished before returning to the table that I was playing at (I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke anyway, but when you're thinking about the health of an unborn baby it because even MORE appalling)

Just got back from (another) weekly doctor appointment - this time.. I PASSED the test!! no more weekly appointments - I GAINED a pound (they were very proud of me - which made me laugh, becuase I think pregnancy is the only time in your life where you get to rejoice over gaining an extra pound) And anyone that has seen me lately knows EXACTLY where that pound has gone, because my "baby bump" is getting quite large (I swear I'll post pictures someday)

Until then... here's the 17 week TURNIP (yep, baby's a turnip now)

16 Weeks, doctor follow up, and almost ultrasound!

I'm a little over 16 weeks today, and I have that follow up appointment with my doctor, but I figured I could safely blog before it, because I don't think that there is going to be anything newsworthy that comes from this appointment. Either I stopped losing weight or I didn't, I'm sure it's not a big deal.

The BIG deal is that we are LESS than 2 weeks away from our ultrasound and finding out the sex.
So don't forget to weigh in on the poll. >>>>>>>>

as expected - I have a fruit picture to mark this weeks development.
(I don't know what the quarter is all about.. i think it's supposed to just show the relative size)

And a more "accurate" picture..
